Talisman Red's College Basketball Computer Ratings

Welcome to 2024-25!

I've redecorated again, but all the information you have come to expect is still here. This will be the 22nd year of my website. Wow, how time flies. Small screen? There's a menu at the bottom.

November 4: I'll double check all the conference alignments once everyone has played a game or two. If you see someone out of place, drop me a line.

Greetings to my loyal D-II and D-III followers...

Yep, everything is still here for you. Click over on the menu under the Wilson section, or go directly to the D-II or D-III "everything pages." Thank you so much for your continued support.

In '24-'25 I'll be producing almost the same content for the D2 & D3 women's teams that I produce here -- head over to check out those rankings & standings if you'd like!

Division I Top 25

If you'd like it, here is the full ratings file. For any hypothetical matchup, use the Points column to estimate a margin of victory. For everything else you might want, hit up the menu or go directly to conference standings, or see the conferences ranked, or tonight's score predictions. A description of the columns is below the top 25.

Ratings last updated 23-Jan-2025. Early in the season, ratings rely heavily on last year's results and teams may jostle quite a bit as the influence of last year falls away.

The columns you see above...

  • Rank, Team, W-L, and Rating: hopefully self-explanatory
  • Points: the column to use if you want to calculate a hypothetical margin of victory for any matchup. Just subtract. Adjust for home court if you need to, about 3 points
  • BCS: a ranking system that uses only margin of victory, with no consideration of score margin. The old-timers would call this a more "politically-correct" system, like the ones used in the Bowl Championship Series for many years (hence the title "BCS")
  • Top 50, 51-100, 100+: a team's won-loss record against teams in each of those ranking groups
